The annual staff retreat is always highly anticipated here at The Arc of Delaware County. A committee is formed from staff members across the agency. Survey results are reviewed, current affairs considered, and relevant materials looked at. Together, this team gathers information and input from every program and comes up with an amazing day for one and all!
Our theme was, “Sky’s The Limit”, representing that we can break through the glass ceilings of the past and come even more fully into the fullness of ourselves and what wants to happen to empower and bring joy to everyone. Embracing creativity and individuality, many of the programs created their own t-shirts and fun paraphernalia to wear through the day. Moving forward we embrace that the lives people want to live are full of aspirations to be reached, goals to be attained, and unique beauty to be fully accepted. At The Arc of Delaware County we are excited to move further into the community supports model that will be the space for Sky’s The Limit things to happen!
We were thrilled to return to a long time favorite venue for the staff retreat, Scott’s Family Resort in Deposit, NY. It is both beautiful and nostalgic. The Scott family, who has owned and operated the resort for many years, are just the most wonderful people! You may recognize this gorgeous place nestled in the Catskills from the Emmy award-winning comedy, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. It was a gorgeous day. We were rejuvenated by the water, the sun, the fun, and most of all, by coming together to celebrate our mission, how far we’ve come and our excitement for the future.
Fun in the sun, acknowledging the great value every staff member brings and showing appreciation was on the menu in the afternoon. The morning, however, was well spent learning, experiencing an opportunity for both individual growth and growth as an agency, and setting the intention for our future. We are ready and excited to become an even greater expression of integrative and community supports. Hanns Meissner, retired CEO of The Arc of Rensselaer County, and author of, Blue Space was our guest presenter. He guided us to a great discussion concerning how our mission has been expressed through time and how it will be expressed in the future.
When you service the entire county through many empowering programs, it’s easy to become isolated by geography. Coming together is such a wonderful time to bond with our team and what a team we have! We all love The Arc of Delaware County!
We hope you enjoy some snapshots of the day!
