The Arc of Delaware County’s Annual Father Eugene Willis Good Neighbor Award was presented to Sidney Senior Meals.
This award celebrates people who embody the spirit of being kind and neighborly. The Good Neighbor also actively supports the involvement of people who have disabilities in their community.
The Sidney Senior Meals site was selected to receive this award by the staff of The Arc of Delaware County. Staff and volunteers at the Sidney Senior Meals site have proven to be welcoming and caring. They are also very supportive and patient when teaching and guiding people from The Arc of Delaware County who volunteer there.
Prior to COVID, Laurie, a person supported by The Arc of Delaware County, was a regular volunteer at Sidney Senior Meals. Laurie enjoyed volunteering and helping her community, but what she most enjoyed is the relationships she developed at the Sidney Senior Meals site with Jennifer, Virginia, and others. At the Senior Meals site, Laurie felt part of the team.
Congratulations, Sidney Senior Meals, on receiving The Arc of Delaware County’s Good Neighbor Award, and thank you for supporting people with disabilities to be active, contributing members of their community. Receiving the award on behalf of Senior Meals was Jennifer Anderson, meal site coordinator; Virginia, a volunteer; and Rick Angerer, Senior Dining Director. All three were really touched to receive the award and said that supporting Laurie to volunteer at the meal site was extremely rewarding for all of them. They look forward to a time when she returns to volunteer again!
