The Arc of Delaware County was Awarded $26,566 in Grants from NYSARC Trust Services

Walton, New York – December 22, 2023 – The Arc of Delaware County, a not-for-profit organization supporting people with disabilities in Delaware County, was awarded $26,566 in grants from the Trustee Management Board of NYSARC Trust Services to support their guardianship and recreation programs earlier this year.

NYSARC Trust Services administers supplemental needs trusts (SNT) and pooled trusts that can make dramatic improvements to the lives of people with disabilities by enabling individuals to maintain financial eligibility for Medicaid and other means-tested government benefit programs. For 2023, NYSARC Trust Services is proud to fulfill its commitment to enhancing the lives of people with disabilities by awarding a total of $2,697,980 to The Arc New York Chapters statewide.

This year, The Arc of Delaware County received $16,500 to provide guardianship services for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities who would not otherwise have a legal guardian or advocate. Supported by Chapter staff and community volunteers, The Arc of Delaware County’s Guardianship Program currently provides guardianship supports and services to three people and is ready to assist one more as a Standby guardian.  These funds help cover costs the Guardianship Program experiences throughout the year, like celebrations and gifts for holidays and birthdays for the people it provides guardianship services for.

NYSARC Trust Services also awarded The Arc of Delaware County $10,066 to support new recreational opportunities and enrich the lives of the individuals it serves across the county. The Arc of Delaware County has used the recreation grant funds to provide a wide variety of opportunities to people, based on individual interests in support of its mission to support people to live personally fulfilling lives.

In 2023, recreation grant funds were used to provide WWE Wrestling tickets, tours of Lancaster and the Amish country, camping at Adventure Bound and Haven Camp, trips to Animal Adventure, a beach vacation, Delaware County Fair derby tickets, and tickets to the Magic Hunks show.  The highlight of the year was a musical performance by Flame at the Winter Wonderland Ball earlier this month.  Again, these opportunities would not have been possible without the grant funds provided by the NYSARC Trust Services, and The Arc of Delaware County and the people it supports are grateful.
