From September 8–14, 2025, The Arc of Delaware County proudly joined organizations across the nation in celebrating Direct Support Professional (DSP) Appreciation Week. This special week is dedicated to recognizing the incredible DSPs and staff who are the driving force behind our mission: supporting people with intellectual and developmental disabilities to live personally fulfilling lives.
Why DSPs Are Essential
DSPs do so much more than provide care. They empower people to achieve goals, foster independence, and create meaningful connections in the community. Their compassion, creativity, and commitment make a lasting difference every single day. At Delarc, our DSPs embody inclusion and respect, showing up with heart and dedication in every role they play.
A Week of Gratitude
Throughout DSP Appreciation Week, our team celebrated with tokens of appreciation and recognition to say “thank you” for the extraordinary work our DSPs do. Staff received gift cards, gourmet popcorn, cookies, pancake mix with maple syrup, time-off certificates, and more. These small gestures were a way of showing how much we value their contributions—not just during this week, but all year long.
In addition, staff had opportunities to engage in professional learning and advocacy activities, reflecting their continued commitment to growth and excellence.
Beyond a Week
While DSP Appreciation Week shines a national spotlight on the profession, our gratitude doesn’t end when the week is over. We are committed to honoring and uplifting our DSPs every day of the year, because their work is the foundation of a more inclusive community where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
