There may have been sunshine outside, but inside our 2nd Quarter Staff Meeting, it felt a lot like Christmas!
Before the meeting began, Delarc treated staff to a delicious lunch from Ty’s Taco-ria, giving everyone the opportunity to relax, enjoy some great tacos, and catch up with coworkers. It was a wonderful way to connect and socialize before diving into the afternoon’s activities.
Staff embraced the spirit of Christmas in July, showing up in festive holiday attire and helping kick off our annual Operation Christmas Child collection. Employees brought in donations to help fill shoeboxes for children around the world, beginning a collection effort that will continue through November. Every donated item brings us one step closer to sharing hope, joy, and kindness with children in need this holiday season.
One of the most exciting moments of the meeting was welcoming 18 new team members, as well as a rehire, to Delarc. We are thrilled to have each of them join our organization and look forward to the difference they will make in the lives of those we support. We also took time to recognize and celebrate employees who have recently earned promotions. Congratulations to everyone on your well-deserved accomplishments!
Throughout the meeting, staff participated in interactive breakout sessions designed to encourage teamwork and reflection. One activity invited each group to write a letter from Santa to Delarc. The responses were thoughtful, uplifting, and a wonderful reminder of what makes our organization so special. Some of the messages included:
- “Thank you for being inclusive.”
- “Thank you for doing a great job.”
- “Keep doing a great job.”
These simple words reflected the appreciation, dedication, and encouragement that define our culture.
Another important discussion focused on the language we use when referring to our organization. While it may seem like a small detail, using the correct names, The Arc and Delarc, is important. We are no longer The A.R.C or ARC, or DelArc, we are simply, The Arc and Delarc. Our name reflects who we are and the mission we proudly represent. Referring to our organization accurately honors the history of The Arc movement, strengthens our brand, and ensures we communicate consistently with the people we support, their families, community partners, and one another. Words matter, and using the correct language reinforces our shared identity and commitment to inclusion and respect.
Following the breakout sessions, CEO Molly Little provided staff with updates on several exciting initiatives happening across the organization. She shared information about upcoming changes, recognized the incredible work being done throughout Delarc, and announced employee raises, reflecting our continued investment in the people who make our mission possible.
Our quarterly staff meetings are an opportunity to celebrate successes, share important updates, and reconnect with one another. Thank you to everyone who participated, dressed up, donated to Operation Christmas Child, and continues to make Delarc such an incredible place to work.
