Each September, our community rallies around a cause that goes far beyond filling shopping carts; it fills hearts and homes. This year’s Annual Stuff the Bus event was no exception.
On September 11, National Day of Service and Remembrance, we stationed a van at Freshtown Market in Margaretville and a bus in front of Big M in Walton to collect food donations for local families in need. Volunteers, staff, self-advocates, and community members came together with a shared purpose: to make sure no neighbor goes hungry.
A Day of Giving
From 10 AM to 1 PM, our vehicles stood as bright symbols of generosity. Shoppers and passersby stopped to drop off bags of non-perishable food, from pantry staples to kid-friendly snacks. The spirit of giving was contagious. Each donation, whether big or small, reminded us of the power that comes from a community coming together.
Why It Matters
Food insecurity remains a significant challenge for many families in Delaware County. By joining hands through Stuff the Bus, we not only provide immediate relief but also spread awareness about the ongoing need. Every item donated helps ease the burden for families who may be struggling.
Thank You
We extend our heartfelt thanks to Big M in Walton and Freshtown Market in Margaretville for generously hosting us, and to every individual who took the time to give. A special thank you to our dedicated self-advocates and staff who worked tirelessly to organize, collect, and sort donations. You are the heartbeat of this event.
Looking Ahead
As we reflect on the success of this year’s Stuff the Bus, we’re reminded that acts of kindness, no matter the size, create lasting ripples in our community. Together, we’ve proven that when we support each other, everyone thrives.
