Strike for Mike Raises More Than $2,300 for Delarc Programs

On Saturday, May 30, the community came together for the First Annual Strike for Mike Fundraiser at Walton Lanes. With beautiful weather and a great turnout, the event was filled with bowling, raffle drawings, and plenty of community spirit, all in support of Delarc and two programs that meant so much to Mike Terry and his family.

As guests arrived, they were greeted by The Arc of Delaware County’s information table, where everyone attending had a chance to enter for a chance to win a special door prize basket. Nearby, three tables overflowed with raffle prizes generously donated by local businesses and supporters. From gift certificates and family attractions to gift baskets and unique items, there was something for everyone.

Honoring Mike’s Legacy

The Strike for Mike Fundraiser was created in memory of Mike Terry, who passed away on July 1, 2025.  Mike participated in Delarc’s Respite Program and his niece Ariel Terry (event organizer) works for Delarc’s Carousel Children’s Services program. Following Mike’s passing last year, his family wanted to honor his memory by giving back to the program and agency that played such an important role in his life.

Mike’s niece, Ariel Terry, and his brother, Kevin Terry, approached Delarc with the idea of creating a fundraiser that would not only celebrate Mike’s life but also support programs that benefit individuals and families throughout our community. Their vision is for Strike for Mike to become an annual event, with proceeds supporting different Delarc programs each year.

Incredible Community Support

Ariel and Kevin worked tirelessly to gather donations for the fundraiser, reaching out to local businesses and community partners. Their efforts resulted in nearly 100 raffle prizes donated by generous sponsors, including A Time to Heal, Baker’s Grimm, VIA Aquarium, Utica Zoo, and many others.

Rows of raffle baskets and prizes lined the tables, each accompanied by brown paper bags where participants could place their tickets in hopes of winning. The excitement continued throughout the afternoon as raffle winners were drawn and celebrated.

Bowling for a Cause

Walton Lanes played a key role in supporting the fundraiser by offering participants two games of bowling, including shoe rentals, for just $10. Bowlers of all ages enjoyed friendly competition while helping raise money for a meaningful cause.

Making a Difference

Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors, volunteers, bowlers, raffle participants, and community members, the First Annual Strike for Mike Fundraiser raised an impressive $2,354.

The proceeds were divided between Children’s Carousel Services and Delarc’s Respite Program, helping to ensure these valuable services can continue to support individuals with disabilities and their families. Every dollar raised will help Delarc further its mission of helping people with disabilities live personally fulfilling lives.

Thank You

We extend our heartfelt thanks to the Terry family for their dedication, hard work, and vision in creating this special event. Their commitment to honoring Mike’s memory has already made a meaningful impact on our community.

Thank you as well to our sponsors, volunteers, Walton Lanes, and everyone who attended, donated, bowled, purchased raffle tickets, or helped spread the word. Your support made the First Annual Strike for Mike Fundraiser a tremendous success, and we look forward to seeing this event continue to grow in the years ahead.
