2024 Guardianship and Recreation Grants

The Arc of Delaware County, a not-for-profit organization supporting people with disabilities in Delaware County was awarded $26,883 in grants this year from the Trustee Management Board of NYSARC Trust Services to support its guardianship and recreation programs.

NYSARC Trust Services administers supplemental needs trusts (SNT) and pooled trusts that can make dramatic improvements to the lives of people with disabilities by enabling individuals to maintain financial eligibility for Medicaid and other means-tested government benefit programs. For 2024, NYSARC Trust Services is proud to fulfill its commitment to enhancing the lives of people with disabilities by awarding a total of $2,697,508 to The Arc New York Chapters statewide.

This year, The Arc of Delaware County (Delarc) received $16,500 to provide guardianship services for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities who would not otherwise have a legal guardian or advocate. Supported by Chapter staff and community volunteers, Delarc’s Guardianship Program currently provides guardianship supports and services to three people and is ready to assist one more as a Standby guardian.

NYSARC Trust Services also awarded Delarc $10,383 to support new recreational opportunities and enrich the lives of the individuals it serves. Delarc uses the recreation grant funds to allow people to enjoy and participate in a wide variety of things they might otherwise not have the opportunity to do.  Some of the activities people have experienced this year have included the Baseball Hall of Fame, Animal Adventure and a special encounter with the penguins at Animal Adventure, Rail Explorers in Cooperstown, VIA Aquarium in Schenectady, Great Escape, Adventure Bound Camping Resort, and the Northeast Classic Car Museum.
