Delarc held another impactful Advocacy Day last Friday, March 21st.
The day began with a group of Delarc staff and self-advocates departing Hamden at 7 am for a rally at the NYS Fairgrounds in Syracuse, where they joined advocates from Arc Chapters across Central NY. Adorned in orange, the group cheered each speaker as they addressed the important issues at hand, including saving Medicaid and advocating for a 7.8% increase and cost of living allowance.
At home in Delaware County, staff and self-advocates also wore orange and advocated utilizing the “one-click campaigns” provided by The Arc US and The Arc NY. Along with wearing orange, we Rocked Our Socks for World Down Syndrome Day!

It was a full day, with staff gathering later that afternoon for our first quarter agency-wide staff meeting. We welcomed new employees, recognized a few special accomplishments including recent promotions, participated in team-building exercises, and announced the name of our new mascot…Lil’ Phil!
There’s still time to join in our advocacy efforts!
