Friday, March 7th, was a busy day at Delarc. It was the first of two Advocacy Days for Delarc happening this month. Self-advocates, staff, family and friends participated in two separate one-click campaigns. One campaign was sent to Congress advocating to protect Medicaid. The second one-click campaign was sent to NYS legislators asking them to invest in the entire system of supports for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Delarc welcomed the Hancock 6th grade students to spend the day with us on Advocacy Day. The Hancock students were supported by self-advocate mentors to create rain sticks, Unity Bloom magnets, origami, and diamond art. After lunch, they helped make posters for the upcoming rally in Syracuse. They also participated in a variety of engaging games and activities, led by Delarc’s self-advocacy group officers, and were introduced to the agency mascot.
Thank you, Hancock students and staff, for spending the day with us. We look forward to future visits!
If you or your group would like to spend the day at Delarc, contact the Community Relations department at delarc@delarc.org. We look forward to hearing from you.
